In December 2012, BBVA Compass Stadium was awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Silver certification for New Construction from the U.S. Green Building Council. Since opening its doors the stadium continues to incorporate sustainable practices including promoting recycling programs at stadium events, using green cleaning products, reducing energy use across all operations and promoting a “Green Tip of the Week” via social media to encourage fans to think globally and act locally on a consistent basis within their community.

In 2013, the second AEG1Earth sustainability report outlined AEG’s progress toward reducing the carbon footprint and environmental impact of the venues in our portfolio. BBVA Compass Stadium’s on-going commitment to improve venue operations and the AEG1EARTH environmental best practices are important steps to achieving these reductions.
